What Causes Severe Itching In Folds Of Labia Majora?

I have a semi-severe itch in the fold of my labia majora at the peak and on both sides right in the fold above the clitoris and into the fold. It comes and goes frequently. Could it be a yeast infection I have not treated? I dont have a big amount of discharge or increase of and have not been sexually active for many many months.
