What Causes Severe Itching In The Arms And Chest?

What causes arms and exposed area of chest to become extremely itchy after being outside. whether sunny or cloudy? Currently only taking Midodrine, Simvastatin and Montelukast. Diagnosed with non-small cell cancer. Last chemo 11/16. Tumor shrunk half.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe itching in the arms and chest which seems to be due to many reasons like contact dermatitis , side effects or certain medicines , allergic reaction , sensitivity to sunlight or systemic conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. I would suggest you to

- Take anti-inflammatory medication such as Zyrtec one a day.
- Apply cold compresses to reduce the itchiness and inflammation.
- Drink plenty of fluids.
- Avoid touching or pricking rashes and apply calamine lotion to soothe them.
- Avoid application of any hard cosmetics.

You should consult dermatologist for proper examination Doctor may order skin patch test , blood test , test for allergy and physical examination . Doctor may prescribe corticosteroid ointment , antibiotics , anti inflammatory and immunosuppressants .
