What Causes Severe Itching On Testis And Shaft Of Penis?

I ve been having itchy sensation around the groin region (male, 21) e.g. testes, shaft of penis, the gap between thigh and testes etc. I have been having this for 2-3 years now. I know it is not sexually triggered because it started when I wasn t sexually active. Gentalene plus helps to sooth the irritation (otherwise intrusively bothersome) for few days at most. Other ointments and lotions have shown less effectiveness. I want a cure. Any suggestions?

Hello,

Severe itching in the shaft and groin area is commonly due to fungal infection. You are suggested to take care of your personal hygiene, wear cotton loose fitting clothes, take regular showers, do not share your toiletries and wash your clothes, bed sheets frequently in warm water.

Keep your groin area clean & dry. Fungal infection grows in moist sweaty warm areas. Avoid wearing pants made of fabric that have ventilation issues You can apply ointment Clotrimazole in the area affected for relieve. You can take a course of anti-fungals (Fluconazole). You may have to repeat the course if it is chronic.

Since you are sexually active, you are suggested to get STD tests done to stay on the safer side. If the tests come positive you will be treated with antivirals and antibiotics.
