What Causes Severe Itching On The Arms While Having Diabetes?

I am suffering from severe itchy arms for the past 6 weeks, from the wrist up to the shoulder and it is driving me crazy. No creams or antihistamines help. The only thing that calms the itch is an ice pack but I can t walk around with four ice packs strapped to my arm! This starts every day in the early evening but this morning for the first it is really bad. I have Type 2 Diabetes. Help! My Doctor puts it all down to moving house ! Plllleeeeaaaasssseeee!!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The itchiness you are describing is characteristic of scabies infection that is a parasitic infection.
It causes a red rash on the skin but it gives terrible itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
