What Causes Severe Joints Pain Long After Total Knee Replacement?

I am 90 years old & I have had a rash on my belly for several years. I also have recently noticed that my fingernails curve downwards. I have been on thyroid medication for many years. My joints also ache at night time. I have had total knee replacement for both knees for over 20 years & do not want to go through that again at my age. Would a knee brace help? Would vitamins help? Please answer. Lyla

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your pain. Most of the times we do not recommend knee replacement until it is absolutely needed, and that's rarely needed. I don't think you would need any.

For the pain, you may use a number of medications. You can use paracetamol as needed along with heat padding to relieve the pain. There is no harm in taking vitamin D and multivitamins, though it may not be necessary. But you may take it. If paracetamol does not help, you may see your doctor as there are better pain killer which may help your pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
