However the pain subsided by itself after a month. now he complains of similar pain in his right and we did the MRI. similar findings of right. Pain is severe and he wakes up from sleep. Have been to many doctors here in Abu Dhabi UAE even upto an oncologist and no one is able do diagnose. His pain subsides with adol or brufen and the duration of the pain is after every 3 to 4 hours and subsides with adol or brufen in 10 min. can you please guide and help
Your son might be suffering from growing pains, these tend to occur in the front of the thighs, the calves or behind the knees. Although there is no evidence that growth hurts, still its called growing pains. We should also keep in mind the other possible etiologies as well like idiopathic juvenile arthritis, Lyme disease and leukemia. You had your consultations with oncologist and had MRI's as well its more likely a diagnosis of growing pains. You are treating it the right way with OTC analgesics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
