What Causes Severe Lower Back Pain?

I have severe pain in my lower left back that sometimes takes my breath away and actually buckles my knees. It started a week ago as a mild pain and I assumed I pulled a muscle. This afternoon it really was a problem. Do you think its a back thing or a kidney problem

Hi,

I would like to advise that you should get yourself clinically evaluated and investigated by your doctor. You may need some investigations like an Ultrasound of KUB region and CT/MRI Scan of Lumbosacral region. For symptomatic relief till you are clinically evaluated, you may take a painkiller like Aceclofenac along with a muscle relaxant. Hot fomentation may be helpful.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. R. A. Singh, Emergency Medicine Specialist
