What Causes Severe Mid Back Pain That Hasn’t Completely Alleviated Even After A Week?

Last week I got severe back pain in mid of my back. I could not stand straight or bend my neck down for the whole day. It s been a week though but I still did not overcome it completely although it is better than before. Please advise the cause and best practices to avoid it in future. Thanks, Prince
