What Causes Severe Muscle Pain All Over Body Post Vaginal Hysterectomy?

Hi Dr. Rynne,I had a vaginal hysterectomy in 2013. I am now experiencing really bad muscle pain all over my body. My gynecologist was able to keep my right ovary, but everything else was removed. My stomach as we speak is bloated or distended and I feel rotten. Can a hysterectomy cause muscle pains throughout the body and or do you think I should get the right ovary checked for infection? The reason I had the hysterectomy is my left ovary became infected and dumped into the sigmond freud and caused a grapefruit size abscess.By the time I knew what was going on, I was almost septic… Margie

Hello,
A vaginal hysterectomy should not cause such a degree of muscular pain all over the body, Even if there was an infection, it should subside within a few days. Visit a rheumatologist for the complete physical evaluation of the musculoskeletal pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Deepak Sundriyal, Oncologist
