What Causes Severe Nerve Pain In Opposite Thigh Post Hip Replacement Surgery?

I had hip replacement surgery three months ago. Since that time I have had severe nerve pain in the opposite thigh. The surgeon said it would last about 3 months and will go away on it s own. It seems to be getting worst. Any suggestion for treatment?

Hello,

Nerve pain in thigh is unlikely to be associated with surgery of opposite knee. Pain in thigh could be due to compression of nerve root emanating from spinal cord. I suggest you to consult your orthopedician for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
