What Causes Severe Pain After An Accupuncture Treatment For Bulging Discs?

After a car accident I was diagnosed with 4 buldges discs in my back and 3 in my neck. I recently went to see a neurologist, his approach was electro-acupuncture. He did not answer any questions I have nor did he explain the procedure to me, or check on me after the needles were placed. Soon after my tratment began I began to feel alot of extra pain and pressure ( which was different from the normal back pains I was having). He had an aid come in to take the needles out after about 20 min I explained to her that I was in alot more pain and quite uncomfortable. Her response was just for me to make another appointment. Three days later I was still feeling extra pain and pressure at the site of the acupuncture ( in addition to my ususal pain) I was unable to speak to the Dr his receptionist told me there was no way I could be in pain and there was nothing he could have done wrong. After contacting another neurologist I was informed acupuncture especially electro-acupuncture was the worst treatment for me as it only irritates the nerves more. I just want to make sure if this type or any other type of acupunctue is safe and helpful to my recovery.
