What Causes Severe Pain And Heavy Bleeding During Periods?

Hi i am sufering from extremly bad period pain.. Im 25 yrs old and have very regular periods.. I am bleeding excessively, as when i go to the toilet i loose atleast a quarter of a cup.. I panic before my periods are due as i hate the pain and it ruins my normal workin day. i have to take three days off work just for this.. Should i get a check up doc??
