What Causes Severe Pain And Infection In Vagina?

I have no signs of any infection in my vagina but lately i've been experiencing a shap stabbing pain in my vagina. It hurts so bad i have to hold my breath if i put any pressure on my pelvic area at the time while this is going on the pain is way too intense. have no idea what causes this....? it usually subsides with in a couple minutes.
