Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain after tooth extraction is a normal finding and for which you are prescribed with painkillers by the treating dentist. The small hard lump over the cheek is also due to inflammation and it is also a reaction to trauma to the soft tissues caused during the extraction of the teeth..
You need not to worry as gradually as the healing will progress the pain will reduce and the swelling will also subside..
As of now you should take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen 4OO mg three times a day, if pain does not subside by it Tramadol [Ultram] can be taken twice a day..
Antibiotic like Augmentin 625 mg thrice a day has to be taken..
Do warm saline gargles..
Do ice packs over the cheek as it will help in reducing inflammation and ease in resolution of the swelling..

If still the pain does not subside you should consult your dentist and get evaluated

Hope this information helps..

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query severe pain and lump near jaw bone after extracting teeth is normal for 2-3 days because of surgical procedure and involvement of massive instruments. The lump can be due to simple inflammation or hematoma formation due to traumatic procedure . It will go away in few days as body will absorb blood by its own . I would suggest you to give cold compresses several times a day. Take advil or tylenol for pain and continue antibiotics prescribed by dentists after extraction.
If it is really troubling you i would suggest you to visit dentist once and get it examined as it could be the case of dry socket. Get eugenol dressing done. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Do warm saline gargles.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
