What Causes Severe Pain And Numbness In The Arms?

Acute hand arm pain causes sleep to cease regardless of position. Remedy is to get out of bed and remain active, however it is impossible to function on less than 1 hr of sleep forever, this has been going on for 2 weeks. I am scheduled for 2nd neurological exam tomarrow. This will be electrodiagnostic /electromyography/nerve compression. question: is there a qualitative autonomic nerve test that would be of value? the pain is acute, level 10 on a scale of 1-10, max dosage of 800 mg will not result in more than 3 hrs sleep until level 10 pain returns and wakes me up. i have 25 year history of cervical pain issues, starting age 60 but without surgery. I max dosed on ibprofen for 2 years at age 60, and went cold turkey 18 years without . Now 80 and it is back but much worse. Suspect other fact including autonomic dysfunction perhaps amyloidosis and/or porphyria. suggestions? no! I am not a doctor. thanks in advance yyyy@yyyy yyyy@yyyy

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Nerve compression syndrome can be the reason. Nerve conduction studies will be helpful to rule out this.
Thanks
I find this answer helpful
