What Causes Severe Pain And Swelling Around The Knee Post Trauma?

Fell off a scooter- onto a previously damaged leg , just around knee area, below the knee. Last injury 4 weeks with swelling going down and then this one on top of previous injury is very sore , very swollen leg , leg hot to touch on the shin area just around knee. Tight but not numb like previous injury,Injury happened 5 days ago. Had scan for veins after last injury -it was all ok. Do I just need to wait it out?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain and swelling around the knee post trauma. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to certain reasons like hematoma , broken bone , inflammation or joint dislocation . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI along with physical examination . Doctor may give plaster , prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and vitamin supplement for quick healing . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy surgery in severe damage .
