What Causes Severe Pain And Swelling In Breasts While Using Mirena Coil?

I ve had the Mirena coil in for just over 2 years, I ve been period free since the start which is great but for the past 8 weeks sex is extremely painful during and then for a few hours afterwards, then 4 weeks ago my breasts have become very swollen, hard and painful. Could this be because there s something wrong with the coil?

Hi.

No, this means that the coil is causing some amount of hormonal imvalance resulting in the presentation you are experiencing. Get your hormone levels checked and if all is well then there is really no need to worry, as this is a side effect of thr coil and many other contraceptives that subsides soon after getting off it.
