hi,
Thank you for providing the brief history of you..
Let me help you further. The first thing to understand here is you are 56 years, osteoarthitis, falls,
obese etc.
Now to help further, you should understand a little mechanics of the body here. when pain is in the right side for example, then the weight is borne by left side. by this the whole body anatomical position changes. So first thing to follow here -
1. MRI of the knee
The MRI of the knee will help understand the grade of
Osteoarthritis and also the status of the
soft tissue injuries.
2. Rest
During the period of rest, you need to perform hot water fermentation to provide good soothing to the joint as to reduce the pain
3. Physical therapy
The use of Therapeutic
ultrasound therapy and
TENS therapy will help reduce the pain and inflammation.
Next plan will be focused on the exercise to strengthen the lower limb muscles as a whole to help improve the
joint stability. As the joints are supported by the muscles so the strengthening of the muscles are of due importance.
Later on, core stability and spine muscle strengthening. This will help the correction of the spine and help the lower limb to be balanced in bearing the weight.
Next, get the maximum Range of motion in the knee joint. As the ROM of the knee joint plays an important role in your Gait cycle.
Now, this process will be a slower and a bit painful, as with exercise there is a small saying - "NO PAIN NO GAIN"
Reduction in your weight will start by performing exercises as well.
In my personal experience i have 100% success rate of my patients. All my patients follow simple line to get helped
- MRI (Knee and Spine)
- Rest
- Physical therapy (Designed for his or her own problem, never in general)
My patients are even today able to dance, squat, run, jog, jump, etc. No
cortisone, no surgery.
I wish the same for you and advise to find the best possible physical therapist to help you further.
