What Causes Severe Pain And Swelling In The Testicles?

My son is experiencing severe swelling, and moderate to sefere pain in both testicles. He said this occurred after energetic sexual relations with his wife. Also... the Phd in the town where he lives has said he is concerned about a Malignancy. The testicles are to 5 times normal size, and he is experiencing pain as if he had received a groin impact. Seems like symptoms came on too quickly to be cancer. Any comments?

Hi,

Noted the history about your son getting severe swelling and pain in both testicles after energetic sexual relation with wife, testicles are 5 times larger than normal, Doctor was worried about cancer.
Well, as you have mentioned correctly, cancers do not present like this, never with pain.
Since you have mentioned 5 times the normal swelling of testicles and that too occurred after sexula activity the commonest causes I can think about asare one of the following:
Obstructed inguino-scrotal hernia.
Severe epididymo-orchitis.
This cna be confirmed by the following ways.
Urgent Ultrasonography and color doppler examination.
Tests of blood and urine.
Examination by a General Surgeon or an Urologist.
Once confirmed the treatment will be as per the cause found.
Ask your son to wear proper scrotal support.
Drink plenty of oral fluids and have an urgent Ultrasonography, be prepared fr surgery if needed.
