What Causes Severe Pain And Swelling On The Left Knee?

Yes. I have severe pain on the front inside of my left knee. It feels swollen & tight. I can t bend it but about 15%, the sharp pain inhibits it! I can t walk normally up or down stairs, he step at a time! If my leg dances from a stool the pain is unbearable, however I can stand & lean on that leg with no problem, but walking is hard. Sleeping is hard also. I don t recall a specific injury, just doing some pressure washing on porch when the first sign was a sharp nerve pain up the middle of my foot to my knee

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A swollen knee occurs when excess fluid accumulates in or around your knee joint.

A swollen knee may be the result of trauma, overuse injuries, or an underlying disease or condition.

To determine the cause of the swelling, I suggest doing an examination of a sample of the fluid to test for infection, disease or injury.

I also recommend doing a blood test. Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
