What Causes Severe Pain Around The Hips On The Left Side?

I am experiencing sudden tearing pain outer left hip nearer to the iliac crest that is sharp and radiates around to the left buttock. It is difficult to walk and especially go up stairs. I do have RA and osteoarthritis. Any ideas what is could be and who I should see? There was a hematoma associated with it but has gone away.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I think this may be arthritis of the hip joint. You can do an X-ray to verify it. The treatment you are using for arthritis in other parts of the body will affect it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
