What Causes Severe Pain At Back Of Head While Breathing Despite Having Common Cold?

I have a bit of a cold right now and when i breath in through my nose to stop my nose from running, it sends a shooting pain to the back of my head close to the soft spot right above the neck where the hairline starts. It goes away after about 10 seconds, but it is some of the worst pain I have ever felt all at once. Any idea?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that there might be having radiating pain in occiputal region due to acute sinusitis.
Due to inflammation in sinus while doing deep respiratory effort it gives this type of pain.
Take some analgesic, decongestant medicine for 2-3 days.
Go for Vicks vapor inhalation.
Ok and take care.
