What Causes Severe Pain Followed By Red Itchy Bumps On Right Leg?

I have had horrible pain in my right leg for several days. This morning I woke up with red itchy bumps all over the lower half of it. I am a teacher and several children in my class have had fifths disease. Also my mother has had bad shingles a couple times? I am wondering what would give me pain and then a rash.

Probably you have developed shingles.
Your symptoms are suggestive of this.
I treat such cases with oral acyclovir.
It is safe and effective.
