What Causes Severe Pain In Hip Area?

my fiancee heard a pop in her hip she is in severe pain and vomiting because of it! i took her to the er and they did an xray of her leg! but said they couldnt see anything wrong, so they sent her home nothing to help her with the pain or advice on what it might be? any idea what might be causing the pain
