What Causes Severe Pain In Lower Bowel?

infrequetly. every year or two...I have a very intense and sharp pain in lower bowel close to rectum that seems to move as it passes. I had an occourance last week that lasted 5- 10 minutes in middle of night and very very intense. In the past, my internist speculated gas that was passing.

Do you suffer from chronic constipation. Have you noticed any streaking of blood in your stools or have noticed anything that is blackish in color. If yes, please see your doctor again. I would not have worried about it but since you say the pain is very intense, its better to get a simple proctoscopy done to be sure. Thanks
