What Causes Severe Pain In Pelvis During Pregnancy?
I have a pain in my lower pelvic area in a generalized spot as well as on my lower back on my right side. Im pregnant and fear this might be somthing to do with my kidneys. Should i go to the er? is this anything seriouse really? or should i just get bed rest. I dont like going to the ER for them to tell me there is nothing wrong because then i feel like an idiot and avoid going as much as possible. I have had this pain before and think i was mis dagnosed for preterm labour. It went away eventually but now it has came back.I am currently 29 weeks pregnant btw. So any early on pregnancy issues are expelled. Also i have not been tested for gestational diabetes yet. And also when i move my leg high on the right side it hurts and when i pee it feels better for a short period of time.
It is possible that a kidney stone could cause the symptoms you describe. However, pain from a kidney stone is very severe, so much so that it is hard to sit still or sleep. If it hurts to that level, I encourage you to go to the ER- there is no shame in it and you are not being judged by your ability to diagnose yourself. That's the doctor's job.
In the meantime drink lots of fluids to flush your kidneys and try to also drink cranberry juice which helps dissolve stones.
Also if you experience any contractions, leakage of fluid or vaginal bleeding, you should also go to the ER.
I hope my advice was helpful and that I answered your question.
Best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy, Dr. Brown
