What Causes Severe Pain In Ribs And Back With Difficulty In Breathing?

Hello. I am a female, age 20. Today I had a scare. My ribs and back hurt bery badly. Felt like the wind was knocked out of me or someone was squeezing around my mid section very tight. It felt hard to bereathe and at one point I was litterly gasping for air. My mom thinks I have a fractured rib. What do you think this could be? I really never want to experience that ever again.
