Hi,

Diverticuli of colon an cause diverticulitis which can cause severe pain in the lower abdomen. This pain can be referred to back and may present as acute back pain. Since you have no symptoms pertaining to abdomen, its better to go into emergency or to an orthopaedic surgeon for a complete evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
