General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Pain in sciatica is due to nerve irritation or impingement. Tramadol alone won't be effective in most case. In such case if you were my patient then I would recommend muscle relaxants like cyclobenzaprine and neurotropic drugs like Pregabalin. Physiotherapy is also recommended along with this. Physiotherapy like TENS and massage is good for this. Back muscle strengthening exercises also help. You can also wear a lumbar supporting belt or corset is also good. Avoid lifting heavy objects or leaning forward. Sleep on hard mattress. A consultation with Orthopedician dealing with spine is well appreciated.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
