What Causes Severe Pain In Shoulder Along With Numbness In Fingers?

my wife has been complaining of shoulder and arm pain for 2 to 3 weeks. There seems to be one specific point is right below her shoulder blade and another point on top of her shoulder. When I touch these two ares she has a sharp pain. She also had numbness and tingling in her fingers in different situations.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain in shoulder along with numbness in fingers . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like broken rib , injuries to the chest , muscle spasms , tendinitis , shoulder joint swelling and inflamed rib cartilage . The symptoms can also occur due to cervical spondylosis. In you case the symptoms are probably occurring due to disc problem. I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically by palpation and order X-ray to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may also order CT scan and MRI of shoulder .Doctor may fix if there is any fracture and ask you to restrict your movements for few days . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and multivitamin for quick recovery . For now do stretching exercises under expert , give your shoulder and elbow proper rest and apply warm compresses , use cervical pillow on expert's advice.
