What Causes Severe Pain In The Bladder During Urination?
Hi: I am a 67 year male , I have an BPH which I am being treated for with finasteride 5mg/day. I have burning pain when I urinate and an occasional sharp pain in the bladder when I sit. is there any thing that will stop the burning other than surgery? I also have a groin hernia. I am also having a lot of intestinal gas, some times very strong with a clear or sometimes with a little blood fluid on the toilet paper, also when i have a bowel movement I get blood on the toilet paper. do i have hemroids or is something else wrong?
The burning pain while urination may be due a urinary infection or a prostate infection. The BPH does not cause burning during urination in itself unless complicated with urinary infection.
I would say that you need to have a urinalysis done and your doctor might need to examine your prostate to make sure which is the cause. If the burning is due to urinalysis than antibiotics for a week are used, if prostate infection is the cause of the burning then same antibiotics might be used but for 4 weeks or more.
Meanwhile make sure you drink plenty of water to wash off the urinary system and help with the infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
