What Causes Severe Pain In The Chest And Jaw?

Yesterday I had chest pain really bad. Lots of pressure, lots of pain. Excruciating pain in entire lower jaw. Pain lasted approximately 6 to 7 hours. Could not move around much because of pain. Rest did not improve symptoms. Did not go to doctor. Today very tired, dull chest pain upon any type of exertion or while sitting still. Did I have a heart attack? What should I do?

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of severe pain in the chest and jaw which is mainly due to acid reflex problem and could be due to TMJ dysfunction.

I would suggest you to do relaxing exercises like meditation, facial muscle therapy. You should eat light, non-spicy and non-fatty especially at night. Drink plenty of water and take light walk after every meal and take antacid after every meal.

You should consult dentist for proper examination. The doctor will take history and examine physically. The doctor may give night guard and may refer you to oral surgeon for TMJ surgery/ gastroenterologist for acid reflex.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
