What Causes Severe Pain In The Chest?

My mother had a triple bypass on 3/16/2005. Of course she did not comply with the doctor s orders pertaining to recovery and therapy. Now she has excruciating pains in her chest. She does have keloid skin and the incision resembles that of tree roots. What could be causing the pain? She has had several x-rays and MRIs, but the do not show anything. Her current doctors say it s because the nerves in her chest were cut. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I really appreciate your query, the chest pain need to be ruled out for cardiac disease and EKG is essential for that. If it is not being done, then get that done. If EKG is normal, then pain could be due to acid peptic disease. I would like to suggest tentative treatment for that like PPI (proton pump inhibitor) and the best drug is Tab. Omeprazole with Domperidone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
