What Causes Severe Pain In The Eyes?

I had pain in both of my eyes that was so unbearable it was like someone was stabbing me with a knife and then turning it. When the light hit it them it was the worst pain I have ever felt. In my life time I have had 30 operations, and I felt the pain from them. The pain was worst than the two c-section that I had and felt. After being in the emergency room the entire night they said, it was not my eyes, it was something going on in my head. Maybe a hematoma. The question that I want to know ism Can this kill me, and do you think that the problem will reoccur.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you need to get your eyes examined by an ophthalmologist and get intraocular pressure checked as well fundoscopy for signs of increased CSF pressures too.

Such should be done immediately though it is not general sign of cancer but MRI brain may be needed if this pain persists and eye examination is normal or suggestive of central causes and not due to eye causes. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
