Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing neuropathy pain terribly in my feet, toes and hands. Feels like sudden surge of fire, burning pain. However, in the past two months I have been experiencing what feels like electrical shocks in the joints of my fingers to hand. I was hospitalized a week ago and while the RN was attempting to place a IV in my arm and another area closer to my wrist I cried out for her to stop. Once the catheter had hit the vein there was a constant surge of electrical current that didn t stop until the catheter was removed. This is becoming concerning to me, are there different stages of neuropathy?
Meanwhile, I suggest you take over-the-counter pain medications, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, to relieve mild symptoms. I recommend Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
