What Causes Severe Pain In The Foot?

I had sudden onset of severe foot pain (outside of my foot) and in achille's tendon area. Foot hurt more when weight applied but also hurt just sitting. Now today foot still hurts and calf now hurts. I did not do anything to my foot so it makes no sense.
