What Causes Severe Pain In The Forearm After Receiving A Cortisone Injection?

I received a cortisone injection into the inured tendon in my lateral elbow. Since the injection 6 days ago, I have experienced acute, intermittent pain radiating throughout my entire forearm. Does this pain possibly indicate that my tendon has ruptured from the shot. If so, would I need to rest my arm as much as possible, and refrain from physical activity to avoid further injury?

Hi,

Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, the location and movement of a pain gives clues as to what is going on. And, burning or electrical pain that is shooting is due to irritation of a nerve that runs over the elbow and pain on touch or moving the elbow is more likely the tendon. Inside would be more the joint, outside would be more the tendon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
