What Causes Severe Pain In The Hand After Receiving Cortisone Injection?

Recently had a cortisone injection in my right elbow after about 7 hours the pain was so bad had to go to hospital,after a few hours had an injection of dialauded that couldn t stop the pain,long story short the next day got a prescription for OxyContin and this worked (barely)my main question is I had a cortisone shot in my left shoulder 4 years ago without this terrible reaction is it possible that it could react the second time and what damage could it do e.g nerves,tissue ,tendons etc. Thank you

Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if the pain is main concern here and it is not responding to steroid now then you can try the NSIAD (Non steroid anti-inflammatory drug ) and best would be tab Diclofenac 50 mg once in day, but try to bear the pain as hard as you could and try to come out of the stress hope this information helps.
