What Causes Severe Pain In The Hips And Legs?

I have hypogammaglobulinemnia for quite some time 27 years i am 57 and have recently began having alot of pain in my hips and legs, to the point where i can hardly walk some times. I went to my doctor the other day and he mentioned that it might not be arthritis but something else. What else could it be

* As per my clinical experience, there seems a strong possibility of avascular necrosis of head of femur, which should be evaluated with an MRI of the part for best possible guidelines.
