What Causes Severe Pain In The Knee While Bending It?

I have fybromialgia and I was bending my knees alot the other day doing yard work and now I have excruciating pain on the left side of my left knee. The pain started gradually that night where it was huring when I walked and when I would get up from sitting. The pain has gotten worse since then, even though I ve iced it and I am taking a muscle relaxant plus ibuprofen (it hurst a lot less when I m on the meds). Now I noticed that when I put pressure on it or walk on it, it hurts way less than when I have it lifted from the ground. What do you think this could be? And what home remedies, if any, should I use or do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan to look for ligament or tendon injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
