What Causes Severe Pain In The Knees?

I am 51 years old and not in the best physical condition. I recently spent a couple of weeks doing more physical type work than I am used to and as a result I am experiencing severe pain in my knees. The work required me to kneel on blacktop while loosening lug nuts on cars. I did this probably a few hundred times. Both knees exhibit what feels like a bony protrusion in the front and just below the kneecap. The right knee is so painful I can barely stand and walk. The pain is sharp stabbing pain, anytime I flex the knee. Any ideas what this might be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, it seems to be osteoarthritis and needs detailed orthopaedic surgeon review an X-ray or MRI of knees, as soon as possible.

Meanwhile avoiding heavy weight bearing and start using supplements for calcium D3 osien mineral complexes and for symptomatic relief OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
