What Causes Severe Pain In The Left Leg From The Knee To The Buttocks?

I have been experiencing an aching pain in my left leg starting just below my knee and up to my buttocks. It has been happening more often than it did when it first began a couple of weeks ago. I haven t had any injuries to my leg. I am a 46 year old male.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pain in the limbs can be due to different possible causes most commonly due to issues with the muscles and other soft tissue or the bones (lower back, hips, knees or ankles).
Nerve related pain (neuralgia) can also be a cause. This tends to occur suddenly and last only a few seconds to minutes in most cases.

Leg pain can also sometimes be due to a clot but this would not normally cause symptoms for such a prolonged period of time.

To determine the cause, you would need to be assessed by your doctor. This would involve examination of the joints, muscles and nerves.

I hope this helps
