Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fe el severe pain in the left leg, mainly in the calf muscle, when standing or walking since roughly two months. As soon as I sit or lie, pain just vanishes. Dr.( nerve specialist)has given 3 medicines namely---- 1) Rabekind 20 (to be contd) 2)Ace proxyvon 2 times for 5 days & 3) Gabator-NT (400) half tablet for once, to be contd. He suggested for M.R.I. of Lumbosal(?)region. pl. tell me,shall I follow it? I am 71 years old.
I am sorry that you have this pain. I need more details about your pain to exactly know what the reason for your pain is. Do you have back ache? Does your pain get worse during night? What is the character of your pain -- stabbing/pins and needles/burning? Did you have any heart illness? Do you smoke? From what you have told me there could be several possibilities for your pain.
If I were your doctor, I would consider doing lipid profile and lower limb Doppler before going for MRI as you do not give any symptom suggestive of nerve compression. I would start you on graded exercise program and physiotherapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bright Jebaraj S
