Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain In The Lower Abdomen And Lower Back?
I have been having sharp pains all the way around my torso - lower abdomen, both sides of groin, lower back from up above my waist to halfway down my thigh. The pain was occurring on both sides and has been debilitating at times for a period of three weeks. I have osteoarthritus and thought an injection in my right hip would help - I get these every 6 months. But, it only helped the right side of my pain, in the area of my right hip. When it began occurring (I was riding and driving 6 - 8 hours straight)a car from Sarasota and back. I have stopped eating much at all because of the pain of relieving my bowels, very little at a time, and farting. It even hurts to just walk quickly or sit down hard. I also have a 7 milimeter kidney stone in my left kidney and I was worried that it might be moving. The Doctors have tried to remove it - but they couldn t get to it due to my narrow euretha. Any advise on how to proceed?
I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms could be related to irritable bowel syndrome or to the kidney stone.
For this reason, I would recommend performing a fibrocolonoscopy and an abdominal ultrasound.
Some lab tests are needed to (complete blood count, PCR, ESR, kidney and liver function tests, a stool analysis and a urine analysis). You should discuss with your doctor on this issue.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
