What Causes Severe Pain In The Muscles And Joints?
I have pretty severe, lower quadrant, bi lateral, joint and muscle pain and now numbness in upper extremities. Have had MRI, and am seeing Neuro-spine specialist. Have been taking prednisone (10 mg) daily for 3 months to alleviate pain and stiffness. Am 68, and otherwise healthy. Pain is believed to be associated with inflammation and nerve issues from MRI. My question is what is the harm in me continuing to take the prednisone, given my age, and the fact it gives decent relief and thus increases quality of life while we figure out the problem

Long-term use of steroid is not safe. You can consider alternative options like pain pump or steroid injection to the spine also.
