What Causes Severe Pain In The Upper Abdomen?

I have been experiencing extreme stomach pain in the upper area. Some times I go days without having a bowel movement and some days I go regularly. I am 5 2 and around 205 lb. I do not know why this is happening but a lot of my symptoms coincide with those of having ibs???? How will on know for sure what is causing these pains?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
We have to rule out possible causes like pancreatitis and gastritis.
Antacids like omeprazole can also be used.
If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
