What Causes Severe Pain In The Upper Abdomen?

I have an acute pain in my left flank. It flairs up from time to time but usually clears in about a week. It has been going on for almost a month now. Often times the pain is on the right side. Sometimes both sides, which would rule out Gall Bladder problems I think. It hurts to roll over while on my back or to sit up from a supine position. The pain is at the levels of my kidneys...

Hi,

Go for an abdominal ultrasound. It will detect any renal/ureteric or gall bladder calculus. For the time being, take tab meftal.
