What Causes Severe Pain In The Waist?

I am having severe pain located on the right side, waist level, like if you put your hand on your hips as the old saying goes. That is where is hurts. It hurts mainly when I have sat a while and been lying down and go to get up. It is almost a catch. It does not hurt down my leg or in my groin. Do you think that is my hip??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the pain you are feeling on your right side, waist level and here is my advice. You are right, it might be your hip. I highly recommend to consult with an orthopedic specialist as soon as possible.

An X-ray of the hip joint and vertebral spine lumbar and sacral area should be done. Take analgesic medicines you find over the counter. Apply analgesic cream locally.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
