What Causes Severe Pain In Thumb Joint With Redness And Tenderness?

i have had severe pain at the lower thumb joint on my palm side for a few days now. The area is red and very tender. Tender on movement of thumb too. I now have twitching and pulsating in my hand that is not painful but I just do not like the sensation. i also have a small amount of pins & needle sensation. What could this be?

Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to gout.

For further assessment kindly do uric acid, X-ray of thumb after orthopedician consultation.

For pain, you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Restrict thumb movements. Use support.
