What Causes Severe Pain In Tongue After Canker Sore Removal?
I had a canker sore removed, biopsied and sewn up. A week later my tongue was in severe pain and did not seem to be healing even though I was doing the salt rinses. I saw the Doctor on June 3rd. He informed me that the biopsy was negative. However, an ulcer has grown over the surgery site. The only thing he suggested was to continue with the salt rinses and come back in a month. It is very raw looking and Tylenol2 does not take away the pain. What should I do?
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
I recommend the following. 1) Local anesthetic based gargles. 2) Maintain good oral and dental hygiene. 3) Do gargling after each meal. 4) If no improvement consult your doctor to rule out secondary infection. You will be fine. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help. Wish you a good health and speedy recovery. Regards, Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS Consultant ENT Surgeon
